Du Pree began her professional career as an original cast member of the nationally syndicated PBS show, Biz Kid$. After earning a BFA in musical theatre from Howard University, she worked consistently at prestigious theatres in the DMV, including the Kennedy Center, Signature Theatre, Studio Theatre, and historic Ford’s Theatre. Since then, she’s performed at 5th Avenue Theatre, Village Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Portland Center Stage, and South Coast Repertory Theatre. You may have heard her voice in audio ads for REI, Amazon, Microsoft, or The Washington Department of Health, or you may have seen her on the Hulu series Shrill, the feature film East of the Mountains, or in various commercials online and on television.

From sharing her healing journey through her blog, Just Du Pree, to producing comedic shorts for fun, Du Pree has found empowerment in taking control of her narrative. What began as an outlet led to film festivals, funding opportunities, and artistic residencies. Through Just Du Pree Productions, she’s produced a live variety show, A Night With Just Du Pree, the proof of concept for her musical film, Atopic, a virtual fundraiser and advocacy event for Atopic, a virtual panel discussion with topical steroid withdrawal warriors, advocates, and medical professionals, and more.

Du Pree has been emceeing virtual conferences and fundraisers since 2020 and in-person events since 2022. She’s had the honor of serving various nonprofits and organizations in the Pacific Northwest, including Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, Food Lifeline, Landesa, Launch Learning, Harborview Medical Center, and Byrd Barr Place. Most recently, she helped raise over $100K for Byrd Barr Place’s Legacy in Motion Gala, and nearly $250K for Food Lifeline’s Dress Down Hunger.

After putting her Broadway dreams on hold to move home to Seattle due to debilitating health issues, Du Pree began sharing her journey online through Just Du Pree The Blog. This catapulted her into the advocacy space for eczema and topical steroid withdrawal (TSW), connecting her with others around the globe also suffering from this iatrogenic skin condition. The blog also covers topics like body image, mental health, the emotional toll of having a chronic illness, and practical tools for eczema and TSW warriors. Sharing her story has led to working with The International Topical Steroid Awareness Network, creating a TSW patient registry, The Allergy and Asthma Network, as a patient advisor, and sharing her story in The Skin on Fire documentary. 

Du Pree has performed for live audiences across the country, portraying Deena Jones in Dreamgirls, Sarah’s Friend in Ragtime, and originating many roles in world premiere musicals. Her musical theatre background has been the perfect training for singing at fundraisers and galas such as GSBA’s Equalux, BrightSpark Gala, and the First Citizen Award dinner, honoring Dr. Benjamin S.
